AMD Feeling the Heat - More Price Drops in Effect

AMD certainly hasn’t been feeling too good as of late. First, they were slapped in the face by Intel’s Core 2 Duo chips. Now, they’re having problems developing their new ‘Barcelona’ quad core line of chips. AMD sure isn’t feeling like they were when the first Athlon 64’s came out. But that certainly doesn’t mean they won’t play hardball. Today, AMD released a list of new price cuts on the current line of Athlon processors, and it’s getting pretty cheap to get some serious computing power under your hood, now.

However, these price cuts AMD keeps toying with will only go so far. Without addressing the manufacturing and developmental issues that keep plaguing their latest chips, the company could find themselves left in the dust all over again. And with the company already bleeding money, it might be something they can’t afford to do.
